Cosmic Odyssey | Dynamic Land

Cosmic Odyssey is envisioned as a long format audio-visual album, and spatialized installation that follows the flight path of the Voyager spacecraft to create the epic planetary voyage of sound and visuals. The album will be comprised of original and remixed sounds and video samples collected from various travels and field work across the world, layered with footage released and available through NASA’s archives.

Much like the Voyager Golden Record that contains sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, and are intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or for future humans, who may find them; we envision this album to serve as an artistic journey and enquiry into the acoustic composition of our solar system and all its objects.

The final presentation of the album will be an immersive installation and deconstructed sound compositional piece, where the viewer determines the experience and sequence of the compositions of all nine planets along with the sun and moon, based on their physical position in the exhibition space. In short rather than follow the Voyager flight path to create the score, visitors can determine their own score by creating their own ‘flight path’ by walking through the space.

This project has been supported and developed through multiple residencies at institutions such as ISRO and Dynamic Land, and performed at events like Spoke Salon by Spoke The Hub, Sound Step at BKSD, and Canticum Interr_ptus at Trans Pecos.
